2009 record breakers:

  • Jacoby Ellsbury has a phenomenal rookie campaign for Jay's Cards, setting a new league mark for batting average with a .403 clip breaking the old standard of .390 set by Albert Pujols (Dan 2005).
  • Another Cardinal with a stunning record-breaking tally - Adrian Gonzalez (Jay) breaks the 8-year old league record for RBI with 111 in a 72-game season. Todd Helton (JR 2001) held the high mark of 102 in a 91-game season.
  • Gonzalez also broke Barry Bonds' (Jim 2002) record for homers in a season with 39, eclipsing the steroid king's 38 set in 2002 during a 98-game campaign.
  • Jose Reyes of the Shed Club shattered the league record for triples with 15, smashing the old mark of 10 set twice by Jimmy Rollins (Craig 2008 most recently).
  • The Cardinals also established a new record for winning percentage by going 54-18, a .750 pace, which edged the old mark of .742 held by the 2007 Baltimore Orioles (Shane).
